The Buildings in Entropy series. Images from industrial
pockets of anonymous urban areas, show Nature re-calling its
raw materials back to their origins. These paintings ask the viewer
to consider that the material world is only a facade; an illusion
that falls apart under scrutiny. Buildings and street scenes in various
stages of external disrepair, may cause one to wonder, what if anything,
is going on inside? Are we willing to look beyond the obvious and
envision the possibilities?
Attempting to create beauty where none exists, among other things,
I am addressing what I think is a basic human need to seek balance
between the internal and the external world.
One of the goals for this series is to dare the viewer to experience
the common as the uncommon and to pay attention to what we most often
ignore: the present moment.
The images shown here are part of a series of 10 painting produced
between sometime between 1985 and 1992.
